Lowell L. Isom

Lowell Isom started consulting with Hollander Horizon International in 2006, and brings experience from 11 years in product development and management roles within the food and pharmaceutical industries. Lowell graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Biology in 1993 and from the University of Illinois with a M.S. in Food Microbiology in 1995, also receiving his certification as a Pastry Chef in 1999 while attending culinary school at Kendall College. Lowell began his professional career when he joined Abbott Laboratories in the thyroid diagnostic research group as a Product Manager. During his two years with Abbott Laboratories, Lowell assisted with the development of a highly sensitive diagnostic assay for thyroid disorders. Lowell joined Kraft Foods R&D in 1996 as a Product Development Scientist, within his four-year tenure eventually becoming Group Leader responsible for leading product development in the cheese division. While Applied Technology Manager at The Solae Company, Lowell was instrumental in the development of numerous soy-based dairy analogs, technologies including cheese and liquid and powdered beverages. Lowell was also Director R&D for a joint venture between DuPont and General Mills known as 8th Continent.

Julia Carey started consulting with Hollander Horizon International in 2004, bringing twenty years of food industry experience from three fortune 500 companies: Frito Lay, Nabisco and Kraft Foods. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Nutrition and her Masters in Food Science from the University of Illinois, Julia joined Frito Lay, later moving to Nabisco, and ultimately completing her career as Director of Product Development at Kraft Foods. In addition to Product Development expertise, Julia also spent time in Packaging, Human Resource and Strategic Planning roles throughout her career. With her prior management and corporate career background, Julia has experience with interviewing and hiring personnel, and a first-hand knowledge of corporations and the expectations and qualities of successful candidates.

Sheri Graduated from Purdue University in 1993 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, and a B.S. in Chemistry. Sheri worked at Frito Lay for 12 years and most recently was Director of R&D at ConAgra.

Bella Cenzano-Fong started consulting with Hollander Horizon International in 2012 after 14 year of corporate experience. Bella graduated with a BS in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis in 1991 and continued to the University of California, San Diego to receive her MS in 1993 and Ph.D in 1997 in Organic Chemistry. She spent the first 10 years of her career with DuPont with roles in R&D, technical service, sales, and management. During this time, she had assignments as a West Coast Account Manager for The Solae Company, representing soy protein ingredients, and DuPont Liquid Packaging Systems, working on bag in a box packaging for food and beverage. More recently, she worked at Clorox and Armored Auto Group as a Global Technology Broker on diverse brands like Hidden Valley Ranch, KC Masterpiece, Armor All, and Kingsford Charcoal.

Valerie Hamm started consulting with Hollander Horizon International in 2007 as an Executive Recruiter in Packaging following a 20+ year career in Food Packaging. An MS/BS Packaging graduate of Michigan State University, Valerie has years of diverse experience in the consumer goods and food service sides of the packaging industry. Valerie is experienced in development, management, sales and purchasing and has a deep understanding of the goals & processes of both manufacturer and customer. An independent consultant for major brand-name companies, and a Manager and Engineer with Fortune 500/1000 companies, Valerie was National Manager Package Development for Yum! Brands/Taco Bell, ConAgra/Beatrice/Hunt Wesson, Nestle/Hill’s Brothers Coffee, and VP Operations for Tryco Packaging. Valerie has worked with numerous packaging materials in many different processes with products ranging from coffee, tea, cocoa & rice products to aseptic infant formula, frozen dinners, ice cream novelties, powdered milk products, nutritional foods, canned vegetables, nitrogen flushed snacks and microwaveable foods & beverages. Packaging materials included everything from flexibles, folding cartons, corrugated, glass jars, plastic bottles, special closures & fitments, oxygen scavengers, club store packs, injection molded cups, to foodservice packaging such as plates, cups, and clamshells. Valerie has sold several forms of packaging, owned her own consulting business, and helped start a foodservice internet company.

Ken Bopp joined Hollander Horizon International in 2016 bringing 18 years of product development and management experience within the food industry in both supplier and consumer packaged goods sectors. Ken graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Biology in 1998. During his three years with Sensient Technologies, Ken assisted in developing and commercializing numerous applications ranging from high solids fillings, yogurt fruit preparations and indulgent ice cream variegates. Ken joined the Solae Company in 2001 as a Research Technologist eventually becoming an Applied Technology Manager specializing in the application and optimization of soy protein ingredients in extruded and sheeted high protein nutrition bars. While working for The Dannon Company, Ken led strategic programs across the Health & Wellness category playing a critical role in formulating and growing their Greek yogurt portfolio, reducing added sugar within the Kid’s portfolio and developing Private Label low fat and fat free yogurts. Most recently, he worked for the Kraft Heinz Company as the Director of Canada R&D with responsibility for their food, beverage and snacking categories on iconic brands such as Kraft Mac & Cheese, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Heinz Ketchup and Kraft Peanut Butter.

Arnold Zimmerman began his career with General Foods Corporation in 1968 after graduating from the City College of New York with a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering. At General Foods he was a Process Development Engineer in Research and Development. While at General Foods, he received his MBA from Iona College, New Rochelle, New York in 1972. In 1973, Arnold joined Hunt Wesson Foods, Inc., and worked in both R&D Process Development and Operations Technical Services. In 1978, Arnold entered the executive search field by joining Paul Norsell and Associates, Los Angeles, CA, and began recruiting in the Food and Consumer Products Industries. In 1979, Arnold began his own Executive Search Firm, Horizon Associates, specializing in recruiting technical professionals to the Food and Consumer Products Industries. In 1982, Horizon Associates merged with Rizzutti Hollander, Inc., to form Hollander Horizon International.
